Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine

Medicinal plants contain biochemical compounds that have an affinity with our bodies. For this reason plants have been used as medicine throughout history, throughout the world and continue to provide a gentle alternative to many pharmaceutical treatments.

Herbal Medicine is ideal for long-term chronic conditions and its gentle action makes it suitable for people of all ages. Herbal medicines can be taken with some pharmaceutical medicines but not with others. As qualified Medical Herbalists we have been trained in medical pharmacology and pathophysiology as well as nutrition and we can advise you on these aspects of your treatment.

We create bespoke prescriptions for each of our patients and medicines come in the forms of tinctures, teas, capsules, suppositories and creams. Most of our medicines are created from British plants grown in our herb garden but we do also use plants from China, India, South Africa and Central America where appropriate for specific conditions.
